This guide explains the basics of the Pennies for the Planet program and provides short descriptions of the three featured projects and why each needs immediate action. Also included are instructions for the four reproducible activity pages for kids (downloadable below), a kid-friendly glossary, and the National Education Standards met by the program.
NOTE: If you experience difficulty with any of the downloads on this page, and prefer that we send you a free kit in the mail, please send an e-mail request to pennies@togethergreen.org.

These four single-page worksheets are part of the Educator’s Guide. The first three are activities that will help reinforce what young people are learning about the three featured projects—including where the habitats are, what they’re like, and who lives there. They can be completed independently by kids who have access to the Pennies for the Planet Newsletter or the website. The fourth is a template for making a customized collection jar label.

This conservation newsletter written for young people can be used in the classroom while teaching about the program and this year’s projects. Kids will also use it as a source of information while doing the reproducible activity pages or in-depth activities. It’s meant to be taken home afterwards so kids can share what they’ve learned about conserving coastal habitats and the creatures that depend on them with family and friends.
