Restoring Fire on an Endangered Landscape

Restoring Fire on an Endangered Landscape

The Blue-Ridge Beryessa Partnership will use this planning grant to conduct outreach to private landowners in the Blue Ridge-Berryessa Natural Area to promote and help facilitate prescribed burns that will improve wildlife habitat, curtail the spread of invasive plants, and reduce risk of severe wildfire. This effort would involve hosting two landowner meetings and a field tour. One of these meetings would involve representatives of the Air Quality Control Board (the agency charged with overseeing the permitting process for prescribed burn) and other entities that could help implement prescribed burns to clarify their requirements and services. The field tour would be hosted to demonstrate best practices and stages of a successful prescribed burn. This project is being led by Mary Adelzadeh
