Bird Tales

Bird Tales

Bird Tales uses multisensory stimulation and the outdoor world of birds to help people living with dementia share a meaningful experience with others while also providing local and migratory bird populations with newly improved habitats. This year, Ken Elkins plans to move the Bird Tales program towards a scale of impact by utilizing volunteers from Audubon chapters and professional conservation educators from the Toyota TogetherGreen network. To migrate the program from the Atlantic Flyway to the Central Flyway, Houston Audubon Society and the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory will be training staff and volunteers to conduct Bird Tales programs and to help modify the instructional materials to highlight target species and habitat improvements in their regions. This project is being led by Ken Elkins.
